The history of Bourbon in America a slow evolution through time. While we all enjoy an abundance of great whiskies in our bars, our homes, and even on the shelf of our local liquor stores, the truth is that in the earliest days of whiskey making neither quality control nor brand reputation existed. You would not know who distilled the whiskey you drank or even be sure it was truly a whiskey! That all changed when the United States passed the Bottled-in-Bond Act and forever altered the way whiskey would be manufactured, sold, and enjoyed.
For this seminar we will go into the history of what led to the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, the great distillers that pushed for its passing, and how distilleries like Heaven Hill are still producing amazing Bottled-in-Bond products! We also have signed copies of Bernie Lubbers’ (the whiskey professor himself) book: “Bourbon Whiskey: Our Native Spirit”.
Our tasting and food pairing line-up for the evening will be:
Mellow Corn Whiskey with homemade biscuit & fresh honey
Henry McKenna Bourbon with BBQ Buffalo Wing
Rittenhouse Rye with hand-breaded chicken nuggets & sauce
Old Fitzgerald Bourbon with waffle & maple syrup
Sacred Bond Brandy
